A thesaurus is a taxonomy that also includes associated and related terminology. In this way, a thesaurus is a kind of dictionary but, instead of defining a term’s meaning, a thesaurus describes knowledge relationships including synonymns and antonymns.
A thesaurus is a networked collection of controlled vocabulary terms. This means that a thesaurus uses associative relationships in addition to parent-child or hierarchical relationships. A thesaurus shows how very complex a natural language may be.
