Anomie is a term refering to a kind of cultural anarchy. A anomie is a process of becoming more complexity when social rules and standards are routinely absent or simply disregarded. In other words it is a state where the normal expectations and behaviours are weakened, abandoned or ignored, confused, unclear or not present.
Anomies describe the chaotic condition of deregulation that occurs in society. It is used by criminologists and those interested in group theory. Some like Emile Durkheim, believe anomies can be created by poor communications, others through a lack of ideals, or through isolation and loneliness. Because the boundaries of enforcement are so blurry some anomies are considered criminal activitity.
