Abbreviation: Binary Digit
The primary unit of information which can be processed by a digital computer.
- Being a base 2 or binary notation, the value may be represented by either 0 or 1.
- Usual meassures of quantity apply: 1 kbit is 1024 bit; 1 mbit is 1024 kbit; 1 gbit is 1024 mbit and so on.
- 8 bit is equivelant to 1 byte; 8192 bit is equivelant to 1024 bytes or 1 kbyte
