GAR, or the GMake Autobuild Runtime, is the build system used for the LNX-BBC project. It was inspired by the BSD Ports tree, and uses GNU Make to implement a complete packaging system not entirely unlike Gentoo’s Portage.
Combined with GNU Stow, it is useful on general-purpose systems, but its primary purpose is still to churn out entire LNX-BBC ISO images.
Note that it is used in GARNOME and Konstruct, to assist in the build process for GNOME and KDE pre-releases, respectively.
