When a file or program refers to actions that happen “locally” instead, elsewhere on a network, eg. on another server, they are referring to activity that your computer will have to do in order to accomplish this. Many Java programs download locally before running to take stress from the server to compute and transmit activities.
Many non-local Web page elements are called SSI, or “Server Side Includes,” these are preferable to many Web developers as they improve a user‘s surfing experience.
