Acronym: Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence
The Planetary Society has a number of projects, among them are some SETI projects. This project searches for signals of life primarily with radio telescopes. The World Administrative Radio Conference under the guidance of the International Telecommunication Union and its related international treaties, define the frequency wavelengths which are legally available for radio astronomy.

A very popular project that aims to find microwave signals from extraterrestial intelligences. Users download and install software which then decodes and analyses data packets from the Arecibo radio telescope in Puerto Rico.
The project has been going for more than 5 years and has over 5 million contributers.
