A humorous term used to describe data transport by means of carrying physical media (by foot, thus the sneakers) to other people. This could be called the original Peer-to-Peer file sharing network because, before modems and even after when handling large amounts of data, there was no other alternative.

During this time, there was no such thing as online piracy. Instead, many companies encouraged users: “Don’t Copy That Floppy.”
