Because the telephone network is accessed by billions of people there remains a large degree of user anonymously and obscurity.

The telephone first become popular with computer users accessing a BBS with a dialup modem. Today many people use a telephone service to access a range of internet services.

Telephone handsets can be a breeding pool for germs. A recent study revealed the average phone has over 25 000 germs per square inch, compared to the average toilet seat with just 49 germs per square inch.
