A number of different Linux Distributions that joined to form “a global, uniform distribution of Linux designed for businesses and supported by a majority of enterprise system and software vendors.” The idea was to compete with the Red Hat Linux market dominance and to create more standards in the Linux community. Each company will use the same core Linux Distribution but provide support to different areas of the globe and different products.
Thus, a layered effect: Linux is built upon the Linux Kernel and the following members build their distributions upon United Linux’s core:

- Turbo Linux – Asia-Pacific
- Caldera (SCO) – US
