Hello and welcome, sit back and relax. Don’t be confused by the many links — this is normal for a wiki. Everything is interconnected, you can get from almost anywhere to virtually everywhere else within nanoseconds. If you can click really, really fast, that is.
Although reality is quite non-linear, humans are used to reading documents in a linear fashion, so wikis can be a bit intimidating at first. So what is this wiki thing we keep talking about? It’s a bunch of web pages that anyone can edit. “Wiki” means “quick” on Hawaii, and that’s what wikis are: You can edit any page immediately by following the “Edit” link at the top. To create a new page, just link to it from somewhere else and follow the link. You don’t need to know HTML or any other technology buzzword that pointy-haired-bosses and venture capitalists were mightily impressed by in the late 1990s. Instead, there are a few easy to follow Text Formatting Rules. To create a link, just put it in [[double square brackets]]
See, that didn’t hurt at all, did it?
Want to play around a little? There’s an iA Sandbox page specifically for that purpose. You can theoretically also replace this page with nonsense, but since all previous versions are stored, we can easily restore the original text. Of course, most people aren’t too happy if they have to clean up after others.
Before you add new material, please take note of the following: First, infoAnarchy, being about the abolishment of intellectual property and all that, does of course put its own content in the public domain (PD), so anything you put here is considered to be PD unless you explicitly say otherwise (and you better have damn good reasons, too!). Second, we have a Style Guide which we try to follow in order to keep things at least somewhat clean and consistent. Lastly, we try to stay on-topic on the subjects that deeply concern us: how to best copy other people’s creative works and get away with it, how to justify it, and how to stop the powers that be from interfering. Well, at least that’s how our enemies probably see our activities, you may want to make up your own mind.
I hope you enjoy your stay here and share some of your thoughts, so that they can be forever copied, modified and improved! For it is only the free distribution of ideas that can create new ones.
Cordially,
