Generally regarded to be one of the best and most secure block algorithm available to the public today, IDEA is a symmetric cipher algorithm used to encrypt and decrypt data. It utilizes a 128-bit key, a 64-bit blocksize and is designed to be resistant to differential cryptanalysis. Unfortunately, IDEA is patented; licensing information can be obtained from Ascom.
Developed in Zurich, Switzerland by Xuejia Lai and James Massey.
